IWIBM Environment & Activities
International learning experience with Canadian hospitality
The Learning Environment
We are dedicated to providing the best possible environment for young people to have an exceptional learning experience:
- The campus attracts students, staff and faculty from all backgrounds and walks of life. Since 1999, we have successfully welcomed students from all over the world, creating a vibrant and welcoming learning environment.
- IWIBM provides opportunities for students to fully interact with our dedicated program coordinators and the other international students to create a personal, friendly and engaging learning environment.
- Students experience the personalized attention that our program is well-known for, and our coordinators will ensure they you are fully confident in the program, and know what to expect upon arrival. When the program begins, you can be assured that we will take the very best care of you. Students receive supervision, assistance, advice and friendship from our staff – all of whom have experienced international education themselves.
- The Social Entrepreneurship fieldtrip and ski trip to Washington are included.
- Activity program is included with enrolment. Some examples are curling, indoor rock climbing and watching a professional hockey game (schedule permitting).
The Residence and Meals
Students are responsible for booking their own accommodation in Victoria for the duration of the program (except for the stay at Mt. Washington, which is included in the program fees). Most students book with places like Airbnb but if you prefer to stay in a local hotel, UVic has some partner hotels that provide a discounted rate for IWIBM students.
A meal card is included for students to purchase lunches on campus. Students are responsible for all other meals.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
As part of the IWIBM program, you will have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities. Scheduled activities are designed to:
- introduce students to the culture and natural surroundings of Victoria
- provide fun and exciting social venues for participants to meet and make new friends
- apply what you learned in class to everyday life and enjoy a beautiful and relaxing winter holiday
Costs for most of these activities are included in your tuition fees; however, students are responsible for costs associated with any excursions outside of Greater Victoria. Wonderful experiences and activities include visiting BC’s top tourist spots and seeing service management in action.
Some of the activities include:
- Welcome lunch
- Semi-formal graduation ceremony
- Victoria city tour
- Mt. Washington Alpine Ski Resort 2 day trip
- Local hockey game
