You may be required to obtain a temporary resident visa in order to enter Canada for the term of study. You will be required to pay the full tuition fees by bank transfer in order to receive a Letter of Acceptance/Invitation.
If you plan to travel to the United States while you are in Canada, ensure that you discuss this with your local immigration office to see if any additional paperwork is required before entering the US.
All participants in the SGBS program must have medical insurance prior to arrival. Medical insurance is the individual responsibility of each student.
Remember, when you are making your flight arrangements, that Victoria is located on Vancouver Island, west of the city of Vancouver, Canada and north of Seattle, USA. Therefore, make sure your travel agent knows that your final destination is Victoria and not Vancouver. Students who arrive in Vancouver will have to find their own transportation to Vancouver Island and the university.
SGBS students are recommended to have at least an intermediate level of English which is the equivalent of IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 45. We do not require a language certificate, but if you are not sure of your English level please contact us for more information.
Refund and Cancellation Policies
If a student decides to cancel the following refund policy is in place:
Students who cancel up to May 31, 2024 can receive a full refund of all fees paid minus an administration fee of $150 + tax.
Students who cancel between June 1st and June 17th can receive a refund of all fees paid minus the enrolment deposit of $600 + tax.
Non-attendance or withdrawal after the program start date will incur a full program fee.
The University of Victoria reserves the right to cancel the SGBS program prior to the start date. In the event of cancellation, the university will return all deposits and tuition paid by the student at that time
Before starting the program, you should speak with a representative from your respective faculty or registrar’s office to ensure that your home institution will recognize the SGBS program for transfer credit. After completing the program, you will receive a letter of completion and an official academic record of grades from the University of Victoria/Gustavson School of Business to give to your home school representative. However, securing credit at your home institution is your responsibility.

“Like every international student, I was scared and confused about living and studying in an unfamiliar country before I got here, but all considerations were gone after I met our fantastic coordinators, knowledgeable professors, friendly local volunteers and other awesome diverse exchange students! Speaking of our routine, we usually had classes from 8:30 a.m. till 4 p.m. in a well-equipped auditorium with a lunch break in between, and ISIBM scheduled us to explore the beautiful city, like whale watching and hiking, in our spare time. Moreover, the professors at UVic business school lived up to their reputation of leading one of the best business schools in Canada, and all the content they taught that was related to business is still useful for me. I’m so glad I joined the ISIBM program and it definitely changed my career and my whole life.”
