Before Arrival (For on campus participants only)
All participants in the IWIBM program must have medical insurance prior to arrival. Medical insurance is the individual responsibility of each student. (Not applicable for online programs)
Remember, when you are making your flight arrangements, that Victoria is located on Vancouver Island, west of the city of Vancouver, Canada and north of Seattle, USA. Therefore, make sure your travel agent knows that your final destination is Victoria and not Vancouver. Students who arrive in Vancouver will have to find their own transportation to Vancouver Island and the university.
IWIBM students are required to have a minimum of an IELTS 5.0 or an equivalent in order to be accepted into the IWIBM program. If you do not have an official IELTS or TOEFL score or its equivalent, please complete the online registration form including the last section, which is an English language self-assessment form.
Under Canadian legislation, you do not need a student visa (study permit) to attend the IWIBM; however, some students will require a temporary resident visa. You will need a letter of acceptance from the University of Victoria and a receipt for your tuition deposit before leaving your home country. For more information, visit Citizenship & Immigration Canada. Students must have an ETA to enter Canada. Please visit the CIC website for more information.
If you plan to travel to the United States while you are in Canada, ensure that you discuss this with your local immigration office to see if any additional paperwork is required before entering the U.S.
Refund and Cancellation Policies
Application deposits are fully refundable up to 2 weeks before the start of the program (less a $150 service fee). Cancellations received after the 2 week deadline are subject to a $525 cancellation fee. Tuition is non-refundable after the start of the program.
The University of Victoria reserves the right to cancel the program prior to the start date. In the event of cancellation, the university will return all deposits and tuition paid by the student at that time. The University of Victoria is not responsible for compensating students for travel arrangements. Students are advised to purchase cancellation insurance in the rare event that the program is cancelled.
The IWIBM program includes mandatory projects. Completion of program is equivalent to 6.0 credit-hours or 12 ECTS of course work. Before starting the program, you should speak with a representative from your respective faculty or registrar’s office to ensure that your home institution will recognize the IWIBM program for transfer credit. After completing the program, you will receive a letter of completion and an official academic record of grades from the University of Victoria Gustavson School of Business to give to your home school representative. However, securing credit at your home institution is your responsibility.
Gustavson School of Business recognizes that not all students are able to afford the IWIBM program fees. A limited number of partial tuition scholarships are available. To apply, please fill out the scholarship application form and submit to the IWIBM program office or email it to email@example.com
I think going to this program was an amazing experience, it is an all in one program in which you will learn a lot but also get to know the city and make new friends. At the University of Victoria, the people are very nice and kind, our coordinators were excellent at their jobs and I would love to repeat the experience.
