Remember, when you are making your flight arrangements, that Victoria is located on Vancouver Island, west of the city of Vancouver, Canada and north of Seattle, USA. Therefore, make sure your travel agent knows that your final destination is Victoria and not Vancouver. Students who arrive in Vancouver will have to find their own transportation to Vancouver Island and the university.
ISIBM students are required to have a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (paper-based) or 173 (computer-based) or an equivalent English language level course in order to be accepted into the ISIBM program. If you do not have a TOEFL score or its equivalent, please complete the online registration form including the last section, which is an English language self-assessment form.
Before arriving in Victoria for study, you should speak with a representative from your respective faculty or registrar’s office to ensure that your home institution will recognize the ISIBM program for transfer credit. After completing the program, you will receive a letter of completion and an official academic record of grades from the University of Victoria Gustavson School of Business to give to your home school representative. However, securing credit at your home institution is your responsibility.
Under Canadian legislation, you do not need a student visa (study permit) to attend the ISIBM; however, you will need a letter of acceptance from the University of Victoria and a receipt for your tuition deposit before leaving your home country. You may be required to obtain a temporary resident visa in order to enter Canada for the term of study. For more information, visit Citizen & Immigration Canada. Students must have an eTA to enter Canada. Please visit the CIC website for more information.
If you plan to travel to the United States while you are in Canada, ensure that you discuss this with your local immigration office to see if any additional paperwork is required before entering the US.
